A pirate on a “dark net” platform offered 487 million WhatsApp users’ data for sale. According to their publication, the data belongs to users in 84 countries, including Egypt, with more than 44 million phone numbers, Meta’s co-owner had not commented on this claim yet.
If leaks are proven, data may be used in fraud and phishing attempts. We therefore recommend careful when receiving messages or communications from unknown sources.
