The hacker group LockBit, which specializes in ransomware, claimed an attack on Fawry and set a deadline for paying ransom and recovering their files, which is November 28, 2023.
Ransomware, is a type of malware that encrypts user files on the target device, and then asks the user to pay ransom (usually via digital currencies such as bitcoin) to recover their files.
We advise users to:
- Delete bank cards immediately From Fawry.
- Stop bank cards through the bank.
- Change passwords in other services if the same used in Fawry.
- Beware of phishing messages that coincide with the event.
- Ignore Messages and links that arrive from anonymous sources or messages.
