Samsung announced the Message Guard feature to protect users of its smartphones from malware and spyware from the quality of “zero attacks.”

Zero attacks are threats that take advantage of security vulnerabilities to attack and penetrate digital devices without user interaction, i.e. there is no need for the victim to press a link to complete the hack. Journalists, activists and government members targeted with NSO’s Pegasus software, with this type of attack through security flaws in apps such as Apple’s iMessage.

The new feature on Samsung phones, Provides Isolated virtual space in which it temporarily hosts newly downloaded files and images on the phone, scanning them and if they are proven to contain malware placed inside a “quarantine” condition and preventing them from accessing and interacting with the basic operating system.

The feature is currently available on Galaxy phones S23 and will be rolled out to the rest of the phones starting with version 5.1 of the One UI operating system.
