The hacking group “Anonymous Sudan” claimed to have breached Microsoft’s servers and leaked login credentials of 30 million customers.

The group “Anonymous Sudan” has gained notoriety for carrying out distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against Western entities in recent months. Last month, Microsoft confirmed that the group “Anonymous Sudan” was responsible for the DDoS attacks it experienced in early June 2023, which impacted several of its services, including Azure, Outlook, and OneDrive, causing them to go offline.

“Anonymous Sudan” offered to sell a database containing login data for 30 million customer accounts for $50,000. The offer included a sample of the data (100 accounts) as proof of the breach. As of the time of publication, Microsoft has not commented on these allegations.

We recommend users to enable two-factor authentication on their accounts. It is an additional security measure that helps protect your account from unauthorized access and breaches. You can follow the steps below to enable two-factor authentication:

  1. Use a two-factor authentication app: Download a two-factor authentication app such as “Authy” or “Google Authenticator” on your mobile phone. You can link your account with the app, and it will generate a unique verification code each time you attempt to log in.
  2. Enable verification code via text messages: You can also enable receiving the verification code via text messages on your mobile phone. You will receive a text message containing a verification code that needs to be entered during the login process.

By enabling two-factor authentication, we ensure that any attempt to access your account requires only your unique verification code. This makes it difficult for attackers to access your account even if they have your username and password.
