A number of users on Facebook’s technology groups have complained about the lack of access to their remittances through Vodafone Cash, a Vodafone Egypt service.

The complainants shared screenshots of the app they used to make the transfers to turn out to be a fake app on Google’s Android phone app store, which transfers the amounts to hackers.

Pirates in this case used a type of cyber attack called phishing, victims are lured to detect their sensitive data.

This situation reveals the chaos in the Google App Store, even by clicking on the developer’s name there is no verfication tag similar to the official accounts on social media platforms, which in this case indicates that this account is an official company and not just a some random developer, and therefore any user does not have sufficient technical knowledge; It is easy to fall victim to such attacks.

We note that Vodafone Egypt digital services are available via its official app “Ana vodafone”. It has over 10 million downloads. Its  also available via there official website.
