On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, a hacking group calling itself “Anonymous Collective” announced that it had launched cyberattacks against Egyptian government websites and would continue to escalate its attacks until its demands are met. The group’s demands include “justice for Palestine” and the opening of the crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
The group said in a statement that it had carried out attacks on the websites of Cairo International Airport, the Egyptian Post Authority, and Bank Misr, claiming that it had succeeded in disabling the three websites.
The hackers used DDoS attacks, which are designed to disable a website or service by flooding it with fake traffic that overwhelms the servers and prevents them from processing connection requests from real users.
