The data of 5.4 million Twitter accounts were leaked due to vulnerability with the API.
In July 2022, a pirate offered the data for sale for $30.000 on a “deep internet” platform. Data includes general information as well as phone numbers and private email addresses. Several months later, the hacker rolled out the data for free, according to Bleeping Computer.
Hackers use this data for phishing and fraud, and if you receive emails or messages on the phone for example asking you to reactivate your account, make sure they are correct or ignored.
You can check through the website haveIbeenpwned. Whether any of your accounts data leaked either during the last leak or any other leaks that occurred beforehand.
