In an important step towards enhancing the privacy of users of the application, Signal announced a new feature aimed at reducing the sharing of phone numbers between users, by registering a username for each account, where users can now register any names of their choice and share it instead of their phone numbers.
The feature is still being tested and users can access it by using the beta version of the application on different platforms, and the feature can be activated via the following path:
- Open the app settings.
- Privacy settings.
- Phone number.
- Register the account name and control who can see the phone number.
